NY Safe Act

The New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act of 2013 commonly known as the NY SAFE Act is a gun control law in the state of New York. The law was passed by the New York State Legislature January 15, 2013, and signed into law. There are several provisions of this law that affect current and prospective gun owners.

The New York State Sheriff's Association has provided information on this through their web site at http://www.nysheriffs.org/articles/sheriffs%E2%80%99-response-ny-safe-act.

NYS citizens can register assault weapons online.  The NYS Police have completed their online registration application.  It can be found at this link—http://www.governor.ny.gov/nysafeact/gun-reform.  A paper copy of the registration form is also available there for download and HERE from our website.

The NYSAFE Act protects the privacy of pistol license holders personal information by permitting them to notify a County Clerk that they do not wish for their information to be released publicly. Under the law, current licensees and new applicants may make this notification to their licensing officer using a form approved by the Superintendent of the New York State Police. Information and instructions for this can be found on our web site in the pistol permit section or by clicking HERE. The form may be found HERE however you must submit the form before May 15, 2013.
